Gaviscon forms a protective layer over the stomach contents to relieve heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion. It is one of the few OTC products specifically licensed for use during pregnancy.
Key facts:
- Active ingredients: Sodium alginate and an antacid component
- Licensed for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- High in sodium - relevant if you are on a sodium-restricted diet
- Space at least 2 hours apart from iron supplements
- See your doctor if symptoms persist beyond 7 days, or if you are over 40 with new symptoms
- SODIUM ALGINATE | Forms a floating gel raft over stomach contents to physically block acid reflux. ANTACID COMPONENT | Neutralises excess stomach acid.
Adults and children over 12: chew 1-2 tablets after meals and at bedtime, as needed. Children under 12: only on medical advice.
